The University of Texas of the Permian Basin has decided to scrap their future partnership with IDEA Schools.
University officials announced the decision Thursday morning.
“After much consideration over the past 48 hours, the University and IDEA leaders have decided to withdraw the proposal for a UTPB/IDEA partnership. In my urgency to find a long-term solution to secure the future of this work, I presented what I believed was the best option but did not allow enough vetting with the STEM family, and for that, I sincerely apologize,” UTPB President Sandra Woodley said in a statement.
Now, Woodley says a task force will be assembled to decide the future of the school.
Parents immediately responded to the change and even issued a petition, which was signed by hundreds.
