UPDATE: Odessa Police arrest one in connection to explosive device

UPDATE: According to OPD, one person is in custody in connection to the homemade explosive device found near Lowe’s last night.

Through the course of the investigation the suspect was identified and later located in the 3100 block of Eastover and placed into custody. There were no reports of any injuries and there was never any threat to the public.

This is a joint investigation with the Odessa Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation. At this time charges are pending and the investigation continues.

ODESSA, Texas (YourBasin) – Authorities in Odessa are investigating after a homemade bomb was found outside of Lowe’s Home Improvement off of JBS Parkway.

According to officials, officers received a tip regarding a suspicious person who placed an unknown object on the East side of the building.

The person who submitted the tip told officers that they heard an explosion.

The OPD Bomb Squad responded to the scene and retrieved the item. Officials say the item appears to be a homemade explosive device.

There are no reports of any injuries.
