Unified Command Team to provide COVID-19 update

Local News

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Unified Command Team will provide another Coronavirus update on Thursday morning.

The update will come as cases continue to rise in the Permian Basin, along with hospitalization. The recent surge is pushing hospitals, like Midland Memorial Hospital, to capacity as resources run low, space is hard to find, and staffing becomes an issue.

Midland Health CEO Russell Meyers made a plea to Midland City Council earlier this week to enforce a mask mandate within the city.

The council meeting, which became heated at times as council members voiced their opinions for and against.

Ultimately, the mandate failed 1-6.

Currently, there are 6,726 confirmed Coronavirus cases and 125 virus-related deaths.
