ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) –Two new Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Ector County, according to stats released Friday.
The total case count is now at 154, with an active case count of 46.
Stats also show that 2497 have been tested for the virus with 2169 coming back negative, as of Friday afternoon.
Additionally, 113 have recovered from the virus and 174 tests are still pending.
Despite the numbers, Ector County has received a batch of good news this week as no cases were confirmed for two days in a row. County officials also announced this week that all licensed nursing home facilities had completed their testing with just one confirmed case coming from a traveling therapist.
Health officials also noted the closing of the drive-thru testing site at the Ector County Coliseum.
Dr. Tim Benton, who has been an integral part of testing in Ector County, said Thursday the team would continue to meet and work on more strategic testing.
While things are trending in the right direction for the county, health experts are still urging the community to exercise caution by wearing a mask in public, continue to practice social distancing and to avoid social gatherings.
“The good news being the numbers are again trending nice for us, the bad news being no the virus is still in the community so we can’t let our guard down,” Dr. Benton said.
