Two MCH employees test positive for COVID-19

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Two more Medical Center Health System employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

Officials with MCH say the first was a receptionist at the Family Health Clinic on West University Boulevard. The employee began showing symptoms on June 11, which was also their last day at work, according to the release.

The employee was wearing a mask and was behind a plexiglass shield at the desk. Officials say the employee is currently isolating at home.

The second employee is a nurse who does not work on the COVID-19 floors, according to the release. The second employee tested positive on June 15 but began feeling symptoms two days prior. Officials say the nurses’ last day at work was June 11 and note she was wearing a mask during the shift.

Both cases are believed to be community-acquired. MCH says they have notified all patients and employees who had close contact with the positive employees.

The update comes as 15 new cases were confirmed Tuesday in Ector County.
