Three new cases confirmed in Ector County

Local News

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Three new cases have been confirmed in Ector County, according to stats from the Health Department on Monday.

Two of the patients are girls, 11 and 13, and the third is a woman in her 30’s. The source of exposure on all of these cases is currently unknown.

The confirmed cases come just after Ector County reported another COVID-19 related death and that a 4-month-old had tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, Gov. Greg Abbott announced a phased reopening of the Texas economy today and the closure for schools until the Fall. President Trump is also expected to announce loosened restrictions on business.

Five people have died as a result of the virus in Ector County. However, officials with the ECHD say one is not counted among their data because that patient was not a resident of Ector County.

Medical Center Hospital and Odessa Regional Medical Center will host a briefing Monday to provide an update on their response to COVID-19.

The briefing will begin at 3 p.m.
