MIDLAND, TX (Big 2/ Fox 24) – The tall city continues to grow with its upcoming developments, now Midlanders can expect to have a mini look-alike Central Park in the downtown area.
The Centennial Park will be located in the heart of downtown Midland. Stephanie Martin, executive director of Centennial Park, says it’ll be the newest attraction for West Texas.
“I’m really excited for Midland to have this great opportunity to bring this park to the West Texas area,” says Martin. “I mean, West Texas doesn’t have anything even remotely close to this type of park, so it will be a huge feature for West Texas.”
The four-acre space was once the Centennial Plaza and the Midland County Courthouse. Now, that space will be the next hub for different components.
“The park will be including multiple different components such as a dog park area,” Martin says. “It will also have kids nature play a water feature splash pad that would have color jets that will come up. It’ll have a stage pavilion area lots of cafe style sittings, so we’re really excited to have this coming to midland alone.”
Centennial Park is expected to be completed by the spring of 2020.
