(Nexstar) – Gas prices are up again this week in Texas, according to the AAA.
The average price for a gallon of gas is sitting at $2.20, which is four cents above the mark from last week and up 12 cents from the same day last year, the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch reports.
Drivers in El Paso are currently paying the most on average at $2.47 per gallon, the data shows. Midland and Odessa are currently sitting at $2.36 and $2.38 per gallon.
“COVID-19 concerns continue to keep gasoline consumption lower than this same time last year,” AAA Texas Spokesman Daniel Armbruster said in a statement. “However, the crude oil market is betting on renewed demand later this year, and this is causing crude and, in turn, pump prices to go up.”
The national average is $2.49 per gallon.
