AUSTIN, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Texas Department of Health and Human Services is debunking a chart that is making the rounds on social media regarding COVID-19 and a comparison to the flu.
Officials say the chart was not authorized or created by Texas DSHS.
Furthermore, the state agency says the chart is misleading.
“It misleadingly compares the flu and COVID-19 data collected in different ways over different lengths of time,” a tweet reads.
Furthermore, Texas DSHS says the CDC estimates 12,000 to 61,000 flu deaths per year and more than 135,000 COVID-19 associated deaths since February.
