ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – 10 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Ector County, according to stats released Thursday afternoon.

The total case count is now at 185 and the active case count is 43.

Stats also show that 2565 have been tested for Coronavirus with 2270 coming back negative. Additionally, 137 have recovered from the virus and 110 tests are still pending.

Thursday’s update will come after an employee at Deering’s Nursing and Rehabilitation tested positive for the virus. Officials say the employee tested positive after seeking testing on their own.

The Ector County Health Department says testing at the nursing home facility initially took place back on May 19. Those results were returned just a few days later and all came back negative, according to a release.

Now, officials say they are working with local health experts to determine a re-testing plan and to investigate the spread.
