MIDLAND, Texas (ABC Big 2 / FOX 24) – Many people in the basin are starting off the Easter weekend by going on a date night. The Tall city date night hosted by the First Baptist Church brought many people to come out and have fun. For many it was the first time since the start of the pandemic.
From fun games to endless food, Ginger Schantz and her husband Dann said they came to have some quality time.
“We have a 7 and a 2 year- old and it’s just been tough to be able to get out and do anything, Schantz said. ” So this is just an opportunity to just be outside, just to spend some time together, talking together.”
Other couples like Ashlin Barber and Grayson Thomason said this is the first time they have gone out on a date since the pandemic.
“With COVID that happened it was nice for us to be able to get out and be a part of the community again and be able to have fun again instead of sitting at home all day.” Thomason said.
Cory and Amy Brand with First Baptist Church hosted “Tall City Date Night” with hopes of strengthening the bond of couples.
“The big theme tonight is to just have fun together,” Brand said. “But at the end of the night we’re going to talk about the fact that God is the important part of a great relationship and a great marriage and we’re going to encourage that. “
They also hope this event will bring joy to many people after a challenging year.
“Life can come and go so quickly so to really take time to focus on each other and make that a priority so hopefully tonight is just a little step for that direction,” Brand said.
