ODESSA, Texas (Nexstar) – Odessa Police have identified the woman in the officer-involved shooting that took place Friday afternoon.
The suspect has been identified as Severa Aguilar who has been arrested on parole violation warrants and police say more charges are anticipated.
One person has been arrested following a chase and an officer-involved shooting Friday in Odessa.
The Odessa Police Department says they were conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 9th Street and Lee Avenue when the suspect fled, prompting a chase.
Police say the woman was located in a nearby alley and then led officers on a foot pursuit. During the pursuit, shots were fired, according to the release.
The woman later entered a home in the 1500 block of North Alleghaney Avenue and barricaded herself inside.
The suspect has since been arrested and the Texas Rangers have been called to investigate.
People who live on North Alleghaney Ave. said this block had always been quiet. Neighbors watched the scene unfold as police arrived.
“When the SWAT arrived, you can hear them all the way down hear ‘saying if you’re in there you need to come out with your hands up'”, Said Jessica Mata, who lives on North Alleghaney Ave. “And there were a lot of people that are watching because this is a really quiet neighborhood like we don’t deal with stuff like this.”
