ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Seven new Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Ector County, according to stats released Wednesday.

Stats show 2953 have been tested for the virus, with 2655 coming back negative. 150 have recovered from the virus and 77 tests are still pending, County officials say.

The total case count is now at 221 in Ector County.

The update comes amid a recent spike in Ector County. More than 25 cases have been confirmed so far this week. The recent numbers have local health experts urging the public to continue wearing masks in public, avoid large gatherings, and to continue practicing social distancing.

The Governor has also taken notice of recent spikes in various areas across the state. Gov. Greg Abbott announced last week that additional resources would be sent to various areas in Texas who are experiencing an increase in case numbers.

Odessa was on that list as another case of Remdesivir was sent to Medical Center Hospital to help treat the virus.
