SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Nexstar) –  A shooting rampage occurred in Northwest Austin Sunday afternoon leaving three people dead, and resulting in a manhunt for the suspected gunman.

According to a press release, Senator Jose Menendez does not support permit-less carry of handguns.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones of today’s Austin shooting. Unfortunately, this is another reason why we MUST NOT pass permit-less carry of handguns! We should instead listen to both law enforcement officials across this State and Nation along with millions of concerned citizens, by making the responsible decision to NOT pass House Bill 1927. This horrible legislation would allow anyone to carry a gun virtually anywhere, unless a person employed at a business confronts the individual carrying a weapon into their establishment. If this misguided bill becomes law it will make many people feel less safe and create more unnecessary dangerous altercations.”
