ODESSA, Tx – Jesus House kicked off the inaugural “Season of Warmth” ministry today.
Jesus House is a ministry that is directed at helping the poor and homeless in the Odessa community, and the ministry is taking that initiative a step further this winter with “Season of Warmth.”
On Wednesday, the organization provided a warm Thanksgiving meal to those in need.
“It’s our way of giving back to the community. They adopted us, helped us over the years. So we felt the day before Thanksgiving, everybody’s fixin’ to get turkey’d up and everybody likes Mexican food, so hey why not. It’s a win-win,” said Jesus House executive director Donny Kyker.
Volunteers also handed out backpacks with personal hygiene items, coats, thermals, tents and other items to those who may not have a home to keep them warm this winter season.
“It’s impacted me in a big way. It’s helping me to survive,” said Arthur Pacheko.
