ODESSA, Tx (ABC Big 2/Fox 24) – Like many events across the country, the Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo is operating its event at limited capacity.
But despite the limitations, rodeo vendors said they are still seeing a profit during the event. Boutique owner Sherry Hale said her sales have even exceeded last year’s.
“I literally have a track compared to last year and what I expect, and we’ve exceeded it every single day,” she said.
Rodeo president Jim Wise said he heard similar reactions from other vendor owners.
“I don’t know what they’re expectations were, but they seem to have met those expectations here in this community with what people are doing coming by their booths,” Wise said.
Hale said she believes the majority of her sale increase can be attributed to the increase in competitors. While there are less spectators at each event this year, more competitors have entered the rodeo than last year. Wise said the increase in competition can be attributed to the cancelations of other rodeos across the country.
The Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo will continue through Saturday, Jan. 16.
