ODESSA, TX (Big 2/ Fox 24) – The red kettles may be over, but the Salvation Army continues to accept donations.
The Salvation Army depends on those red kettles and every dollar and cent raised to help those in need.
Captain Juan Gomez says the money that’s raised is very pivotal for the organization.
“All funds raise during our red kettle campaign stays here in Ector,” Gomez says. “Our shelter, our soap kitchen, and our administration office, we depend on those donations. These donations really support the Salvation Army program mainly because every cent stays here locally and so these donor dollars really go along way.”
Although the Salvation Army of Odessa came behind their goal this year of $19,000, Gomez says they’re still grateful for every donation to help provide for others.
“A lot of locals will support the Salvation Army mission in the form of a couple of cents, and we put that to good use but when a donor can come in and complete that shortfall, for example, our $19,000 gap and of course it puts us in a position to go into next year and not have to worry about possible program cuts or hard decisions when it comes to the regular program Salvation Army does year around.”
At the end of the year, the Salvation Army is still accepting donations. Click Link below:
