MIDLAND, Texas (BIG 2/ FOX 24)- It was a heartbreaking loss for the Oil industry.

“West Texas is a big Boone fan. He’s one of those people you could always cheer for when he is on TV, you would listen to the words he would say because he was so well educated,” says Kirk Edwards.

T. Boone Pickens’ Chief of Staff taking to social media to confirm the death of the Texas oil and gas entrepreneur saying quote “it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of T. Boone Pickens on September 11th, 2019.”

According to Edwards, “he was one of the first ones to speak up for our industry and he’s got a lot of us coming down the road to support him just like he supported us for so many years.”

He knew Pickens personally and admired his generosity. “He was doing the Buffett and Gates plan before Buffett and Gates came up with it by giving back and giving his wealth and doing good with it to the hospitals and schools that he supported so much in our state and other states too.”

Edwards describing Pickens as an oil industry legend that will be greatly missed.

“Even at times that oil prices were down and things weren’t going good in our industry he was always there to tell people the right things that were going on and he was able to predict things in the future that were just amazing for oil and gas. Texas is very appreciative of having him on our team for so many years.”

T. Boone Pickens died of natural causes at the age of 91.
