ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Odessa Police Department is issuing a warning following dozens of reports involving a Social Security Administration phone scam.

Citizens have reported receiving calls claiming to be with the Social Security Administration saying there has been fraudulent activity with their account. The caller then asks for the victim’s social security number.

OPD would like to remind you that the Social Security Administration will never call you asking for your personal information or money.

If you receive a call, do not provide any information and hang up. Then contact the Office of the Inspector General at 1-800-269-0271.
