ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Odessa Police officers shot and killed a dog Thursday after the dog reportedly attacked an 80-year-old man.

Police officials say they were called to the attack Thursday afternoon in the 3100 block of North Adams.

When they arrived, an 80-year-old man reported a pit bull attacked him while he was riding his bike, causing him to fall, according to the release.

The dog is also accused of charging at police officers who fired their weapons, killing it.

While investigating, police say the dog also tried to attack another person earlier in the day.

Officials say an internal investigation is now underway at the OPD.
