ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Odessa Police Department is inviting the public to join them for a hot cup of coffee and good conversation next week.

The Department will be hosting ‘Coffee with a Cop’ from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday at Whataburger, 3716 Andrews Highway.

The event gives residents an opportunity to get to know the men and women of the department.

Additionally, at the event, Whataburger will be donating $3,000 to the Midland Municipal Police Officer’s Association, the Professional police Officers of Odessa, the Texas State Troopers Association and the Department of Public Safety Officer’s Association.

The money, according to officials with Whataburger, will be used to provide law enforcement with 30 tourniquets.

“We were shocked when we saw the news about the shooting in Odessa. Whataburger is proud to support our local law enforcement and fire responders throughout the year with events and donations. Hearing about the recent events really affected us. We knew we wanted to reach out and help,” said David Bladel, Director of Operations at Whataburger. “We are grateful for these brave men and women and hope that our contribution will continue to help these organizations keep our communities safe.”
