ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – One Midland man is dead after a crash on the Interstate 20 service road west of Odessa.
According to DPS, the crash happened just after 8 AM on Saturday.
The investigation by DPS revealed, 24-year-old Guadalupe Resendez was traveling east of the North Service Road near mile marker 108. Resendez was trying to flee a DPS Trooper at the time of the crash, according to the release.
The second vehicle, driven by 63-year-old Jesus Urias was exiting westbound Interstate 20 when Resendez failed to yield and hit the second car, according to DPS.
Urias was pronounced dead by a medical examiner. Urias’ passenger was taken to Odessa Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.
Resendez was also taken to Odessa Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. She was released and taken to the Ector County Detention Center.
Four passengers were with Resendez at the time of the crash. A 25-year-old was taken to Odessa Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. The other three were not injured and were released to Customs and Border Protection.
This crash remains under investigation by Texas Highway Patrol, Texas Rangers and the U.S Customs and Border Protection. As this remains an ongoing investigation.
