One killed in crash near Stanton

MARTIN COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – A 59-year-old man from Pharr was killed and another was injured following a crash near Stanton Monday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Troopers were called to the crash around 6:45 a.m. Monday on FM 3033 north of Stanton.

Officials say Hector Valdez was driving a Ford pickup north on FM 3033 when he entered the southbound lane, overcorrected and rolled.

Valdez was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger, Angel Valdez, was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with incapacitating injuries, according to the report from DPS.

DPS officials say Hector Valdez was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
