One killed, another charged in car-pedestrian crash

BIG SPRING, Texas (Nexstar) – One man has died and another has been charged in connection with a car-pedestrian crash in Big Spring.

Big Spring Police say officers were called to the crash around 9:24 p.m. Jan. 15 in the 3600 block of South Highway 87.

At the scene, officers reportedly found 21-year-old Osvaldo Lopez laying in the southbound lane unresponsive.

Lopez was later pronounced dead at the scene of the crash according to the release.

While investigating, officers learned Lopez had gotten into an argument with someone in his vehicle, identified as Ismael Moreno, according to a release.

Police say Moreno eventually pulled over to the side of the road and Lopez got out of the car and started running across the highway.

Lopez was then struck by a Chevrolet pickup, according to the release.

Moreno has since been charged with driving while intoxicated and police say no charges have been filed against the driver of the Chevrolet pickup.
