One charged after standoff with OPD

Local News

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – One man has been charged following a brief standoff with the Odessa Police Department over the weekend.

Police officials say the investigation began when officers were called to a business in the 2700 block of North Dixie Boulevard.

At the scene, police learned that a man had been kicked out of the business and threatened to come back and “shoot up” the establishment, according to a release.

Officers then heard two shots fired in their direction, police officials say.

The investigation eventually led police to the 2400 block of Walnut where the suspect lived.

A brief standoff then ensued at the home but police officials say the suspect, Lonnie Worthington, was arrested without incident when the SWAT team arrived.

Worthington has since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.
