ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Odessa Police Department is prepared to honor two of their very one, lost in the line of duty 13 years ago.
Cpl. Arlie Jones and Cpl. Scott Gardner were killed while responded to a domestic violence call back on Sept. 8, 2007.
Another officer, Abel Marquez, was also injured responding to the call and was taken to the hospital. He died a few days after the incident.
Each year, the OPD honors their memory by placing a wreath at the memorial statue outside of the Police Department.
They will continue that tradition on Tuesday. The wreath will be placed before the statue at sunrise and will be removed at sunset in honor of Cpl. Jones and Cpl. Gardner.
Residents who wish to pay their respects to the officers are asked to come at this time.
