ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – On Monday, the Texas Department of State Health Services included Trauma Service Area J among those that have been above 15 percent hospital capacity for at least seven days.
Trauma Service Area J includes most counties within the Permian Basin.
Per Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order, if a trauma service area rises above 15 percent for seven days, they are required to move capacity at local businesses back down to 50 percent.
On Monday, Mayor David Turner would not confirm the move back to 50 percent capacity but announced a news conference today at 10 a.m.
The city of Odessa has since posted an update on their Facebook page Tuesday morning outlining the executive order and the expectation from local businesses.
Ector County Judge Debi Hays did not return calls Monday afternoon and has not addressed the capacity restriction required under the executive order.
