Odessa man accused of smuggling migrants

BREWSTER COUNTY, Texas (Nexstar) – An Odessa man has been arrested after being accused of smuggling immigrants.

According to the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a Ford pickup Thursday morning on Highway 118 south of Alpine.  

During the stop, the deputy found 10 immigrants from Mexico, the release reads.

Deputies say the driver, Gerardo Galindo, of Odessa, was arrested and charged with smuggling of persons.

The immigrants have since been turned over to U.S. Border Patrol, according to the release.
