LEA COUNTY, New Mexico (Big 2/Fox 24) – New Mexico State Police have provided new details regarding the crash that killed a local pastor and his wife Thursday night.

NMSP officials say they were called to the crash around 8 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 380 near mile post 220 just west of Tatum.

While investigating, officers learned the driver of a Mercedes cross the center line and collided head on with a Ford pickup driven by Otis ‘Kenny’ Comstock.

Comstock, according to the release, was pronounced dead at the scene and his wife, Melissa Comstock was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Their three children were also transported to a local hospital, NMSP say.

The driver of the Mercedes was also transported to a local hospital.

NMSP say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Crossroads Church, where Comstock was a pastor, released a statement Friday.

“Dear Crossroads Family, there is no easy way to deliver news like this. Last night out Executive Pastor Kenny Comstock, his wife Melissa, and their three children…were in a multi-vehicle accident in the state of New Mexico. I am broken-hearted to inform you that Kenny and Melissa did not survive the accident…

“Please pray for God’s comfort, for Kenny and Melissa’s families as they mourn the loss of their son and daughter, brother, and sister. Continue to pray for their children, who are beginning life without their mom and dad,” the statement reads.
