ODESSA, Texas ( ABC Big 2 / FOX 24) – The Ector County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating another theft, this time it happened outside a home along Mocking Bird Lane in West Odessa.
The victims did not want to be identified but they say $40,000 worth of tools were stolen from their truck early Wednesday morning. The sheriff’s office says these types thefts happen frequently.
“It’s not an unusual situation, we see it way to often.” said Shirley Hardee with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office. “They can sell them to other people really fast there are not serial numbers on those tools.”
But this is not the only theft that has happened in this neighborhood. A neighbor who did not want to be identified says her grandparents property has been targeted five times within the last year.
“I feel like it’s the same people,” she said. ” For them to keep coming back I can’t believe that many different people random times.”
While the sheriff’s office says it’s actively investigating these thefts, they want everyone in West Odessa to be on guard.
“You need to put those items out of view, so put them in your trunk, take them with just to keep them out of view,” Hardee said.
As for people living on Mockingbird Lane, they hope an arrest is made soon. They have a message to those responsible.
“Get a job I mean quit stealing people’s stuff, my grandparents their whole live for what they have how can you pick on the elderly like that it’s just sad.”
