MPD investigating gift card theft

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Midland Police Department is investigating following a theft at a local business.

Police officials say the theft occurred at Walgreens, 3221 W. Wadley Avenue.

Officials say a man pretended to swipe a debit card at the counter and instructed the cashier to confirm the transaction. In surveillance footage, the man can be seen reaching over the counter and pushing buttons on the clerk’s screen.

Police say during the interaction, a gift card was reloaded with $1,500. Now, police say they are searching for the man as well as a second suspect in the case.
