ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – A man missing out of Ector County has been found dead, according to Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis.

The body of Edward Moss was located south of Westmoore and Slavik, Griffis said.

Edward Moss was first reported missing on Sunday. Moss suffered from dementia and it is believed that he may have gotten confused and wandered away from his home.

No foul play is suspected in the case.

Sheriff Mike Griffis says there are preventative measures to make sure people with any kind of cognitive impairment do not go missing. The Sheriff’s office has a program called “Project Lifesaver,” which is designed for autistic children and adults with dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Sheriff Griffis says the department will outfit an individual with a transmitter with no cost to the client, and if the caregiver misses the individual for ten minutes, the Sheriff’s Department will find them.

It is required that the individual must live with a caregiver, and there has to be documentation that the individual has any kind of cognitive impairment.

No foul play is suspected in the case.
