MIDLAND, TX (Big 2/ Fox 24 News) – MISD school lunch debt has been completely paid off. One Midland man and everyone from the Midland community helped raise money to pay off the debt.
Karl Boroski hoped to pay off the lunch debt before the end of the year, and right before Christmas, the lunch debt paid off.
“I’m a Christian, I believe like hey if you put your faith in something and trust in God to do it and God could do it,” Boroski says. “In the end, you can stop, or you can’t say at the end of it all as an example, look what God can do.”
Boroski and many others from the Midland community raised $60,000 to pay off the lunch debt.
“A lot of people came together and donated this money,” he says.
However, many may wonder how can there be so much lunch debt in the Tall City.
“There’s a whole population of people that just aren’t filling out the forms,” Boroski says. “When they do fill out the forms, they will wait a month, and time goes by, and the lunch debt still occurs.”
The money paid off 34 MISD schools.
“Everybody has been very and very thankful for the community coming together and paying the debt,” says Boroski.
