MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Midland ISD has a new leader.
The Board of Trustees named Dr. Ann Dixon as the interim Superintendent in a special board meeting Monday night.
Dixon will take over for Chief Financial Officer Darrell Dodds who was appointed the acting Superintendent on Sept. 1. Dodds was filling the role when the board placed Superintendent Orlando Riddick on leave back in August and began the termination process.
Dixon has previously served as the interim Superintendent at Hays CISD and Montgomery ISD.
“Dr. Dixon has a demonstrated track record of serving as a data-driven academic leader, with a concentrated focus on supporting principals, teachers, and students at the campus level,” Board President Rick Davis said in a statement following the special meeting Monday night.
Dixon’s anticipated start date is Sept. 21.
