MISD may face potential state takeover

Local News

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Midland ISD could face a state takeover due to low ratings.

HoustonPublicMedia.org reported that MISD is one of the four school districts around the state that received letters from the Texas Education Agency about the school ratings and a possible state takeover.

Big 2/Fox 24 News reached out to MISD superintendent, Orlando Riddick, who declined to comment.

This will be the second letter MISD received from TEA because of poor academic achievement.

For the past two years, MISD has received a ‘C’ rating from the state.
