Local News

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/ Fox 24) – Malik Gordon has been arrested for the shooting death of 25-year-old Saul Murillo. Police say two other suspects remain at large.

Murillo was found dead Saturday in the 500 block of South Carver.

Many residents in that neighborhood say the news of the shooting isn’t rare to hear in the area.

“I was here in my house, and my daughter heard some noise like shots,” says Midland resident, Arnoldo Montanez.

Murillo suffered two gunshot wounds.

A surveillance camera shows a group fleeing from a neighbor’s backyard. Police say three suspects fled the scene.

Many in the neighborhood say this kind of act of violence happens everywhere.

“This is the neighborhood I grew up in,” says resident Conrad Coleman. “I know most of my neighbors I feel very safe here; unfortunately, violence is a part of our society I was just watching a story on the news a few minutes ago about a shooting at a church in Fort Worth, so we can’t escape violence it’s part of life, and I feel very safe in this neighborhood and in Midland generally.”

If you have any information on this shooting, please call Midland Police.
