Correction: Initially it was reported that a 72-year-old man was killed in the crash. However, it was a woman that was pronounced dead at the scene. The story has since been corrected.
ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – A 72-year-old Midland woman was killed following a crash Thursday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Troopers were called to the crash around 4:19 p.m. Thursday on Loop 338, about three miles south of Odessa.
While investigating, troopers learned the driver of a GMC pickup was headed west and entered the eastbound lane trying to pass when he collided with another GMC pickup, the release reads.
The drivers of both pickups were injured in the crash and taken to Medical Center Hospital and troopers say a passenger in the second pickup, Trinidad Gonzalez, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
