MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Midland Health will discuss their ongoing Coronavirus response Tuesday morning.
Weeks after a spike in case numbers and hospitalizations, the outbreak has improved significantly in Midland County. As numbers have improved, Governor Greg Abbott expanded capacity for certain businesses and will now be allowing visitation at nursing homes without active outbreaks.
Meanwhile, Midland Memorial Hospital is also expected to address updates to its visitation policy, in line with the Governor’s orders.
CEO Russell Meyers said they are modifying their interpretation of the state’s visitation rules with the goal of loosening some of the guidelines and give more discretion to health professionals on-site.
Additionally, Midland ISD has announced a plan to bring more students back to the campus. The rollout plan would take place throughout the month of October and parents can choose to continue remote learning.
As of Tuesday morning, the total case count in Midland County was at 3,759 with 84 virus-related deaths.
