ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/ Fox 24) – Ector County ISD police have arrested a female Bowie Middle School student for posting messages on social media threatening to shoot up schools.

The student faces two charges of making a terroristic threat, a third-degree felony after she admitted to making the posts. She told officials she did not intend to hurt anyone and was just trying to get out of school.

Officers identified the student after a Crime Stoppers tip.

ECISD released this statement:

“It is a reminder ‘if you see something, say something’ is the first line of defense in maintaining our safety. We will always take this type of threat seriously and investigate it fully. We would also like to thank our school staff, students and parents, for their patience and trust as these two incidents played out.”
