MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Estevan and Francesca Melendez spoke out for the first time since their daughter, Jasmine Melendez, died in October.
A lot of uncertainty still surrounds the death of the 15-year-old. But, the Melendez family believes foul play may have been involved.
The family held a conference today demanding justice for their daughter.
“We think someone is responsible for her death and that person should be held accountable,” said Zeke Fortenberry, attorney for the Melendez Family. “Whether that be through a civil court proceeding, or a criminal court proceeding, we think justice can be obtained through both measures.”
Midland County District Attorney Laura Nodolf says at this time, no foul play is suspected and the investigation is ongoing.
Both law enforcement and the Melendez family are waiting for autopsy results.
