ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Medical Center Hospital and Odessa Regional Medical Center will provide another Coronavirus update Thursday afternoon.
The update will come as cases and hospitalizations continue to rise across the Permian Basin, straining both of the local facilities.
Local health experts also warned that in recent days, Ector County has crossed the 15 percent threshold set by Gov. Greg Abbott. If they continue to stay above that benchmark for seven days, capacity restrictions at local businesses could be on the way.
Mayor David Turner said earlier in the week that the City is talking and working with businesses on how to enforce wearing masks to slow the spread.
Meanwhile, officials with the Ector County Health Department released a statement earlier this week saying a mobile morgue has been requested from the state.
The ECHD, which has not participated in weekly briefings for several months, also noted that staffing has become an issue and they would not be able to update daily Coronavirus case numbers.
