ODESSA, TX (Big 2/ Fox 24)- Many schools were closed during the two days of snowy weather in the Permian Basin, many have expressed they enjoyed having the snow here in the Basin, and some have said otherwise.

Many residents have said they enjoyed themselves during their time off, even those fur babies.

“What I do is bundle up and stay indoors, “says a West Odessa resident. “I’m just like an old hound dog. I find a warm spot and cuddle up.”

Others even enjoyed themselves making hot meals and treated themselves.

“Sitting around watching tv cooking chili beans and cornbread, “says Ugene Price. “I really enjoyed these two days being off.”

Some kids say they’ve enjoyed the snow. However, some say boredom quickly sets in.

“It’s more fun at school because when I’m doing my work, I can interact with my friends and everything and do it together,” Joshua Mueranna says. “Instead of being out here being bored and half of the time just sitting there playing a game or something.”

But some were asked if they mind snowing again in the Permian Basin.

“Oh, no, I’m an old desert rat. I prefer things to be hot and dry,” the West Odessa resident says. “It’s just in my nature being born and raised here for 65 years.”

“No, no, just a couple of days is fine,” says Price. “I’m so sorry, but I’m ready to go back to work, haha.”

Although many are happy to see the snow melting, they still feel the snow was a good thing for the Basin.

“We needed that freeze to kill the germs and stuff, and that’s a big help it really is,” Ugene says.
