BREWSTER COUNTY, Texas (Nexstar) – A man has been arrested and accused of smuggling immigrants into the U.S., according to a release from the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the investigation began with a traffic stop Saturday morning. While investigating, deputies learned the driver, Ernesto Zamora, was transporting three immigrants from Honduras, according to a release.
One of the immigrants had been previously convicted of sexual crimes involving a minor in California, deputies say.
The immigrants were later turned over to U.S. Board Patrol agents and the previously convicted immigrant has been charged with illegal re-entry, the release reads. Zamora was also arrested and charged with smuggling.
