ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – One Odessa man is in critical condition after a major crash early Wednesday morning.

According to a release from OPD, just after 1 AM, an OPD officer saw a car driving westbound in the 2500 block of West 8th Street at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to stop the car. The car continued to run until it crashed into a pole at the corner of 8th and West Loop 338.

The driver of the car was identified as Anthony Maldonado. He was taken to a local hospital and then air-lifted to Lubbock with life-threatening injuries.

There were no reports of any other injuries and the crash is still under investigation.
