Locals react to flooding across Odessa

Local News

ODESSA,Texas (ABC Big 2 / FOX 24) – Heavy rain fall caused a lot of flooded roads across Odessa on Monday. Locals say they have seen some incredible sights while driving out on the streets.

“8th street was a lot more flooded than what I’ve seen in the past. I mean we saw a dumpster in the middle of the road.” Gracie Rodriguez.

” I’ve been seeing cars float down the river basically, Tom Green Ave. that’s kind of the drain,” said Candiss, Odessa resident.

The high flood waters even caused some cars to get stuck in the streets, but there were some people who played it safe.

” If I see a puddle I just kind of go into a parking lot, turn around and pick a different street,” said Bryce Beck.

As a result of the heavy rain, the pond at Memorial Park also overflowed. People who frequent that area say they are shocked.

“It’s never been like this, it’s never been up to the sidewalks,” said Candiss.

But until the flooding subsides, Odessans hope others will be safe out on the roads.

“Stay home, stay safe, stay dry, stay dry, because the flash flooding it’s in an instant and it can sweep you away,” Rodriguez said.
