Hobbs Police looking for robbery suspect

HOBBS, N.M. (Big 2/Fox 24) – On Tuesday, just after 7 AM officers were called to a robbery in the 1700 block of East Rose Lane in Hobbs.

According to HPD, a man described as a white or Hispanic male 5’11” to 6 foot tall, with brown hair and brown eyes, and a colorful tattoo on the top of his right hand brandished a gun and stole a purse from a woman outside her home.

He was seen leaving the area in a tan Chevy Traverse that was stolen from a gas station on East Main Street.

Shortly later, officers found the car in the 2400 block of N. Jefferson and started a pursuit. A patrol unit and a City of Hobbs vehicle were involved in a crash and the chase was called off.

Later Tuesday afternoon, a citizen spotted the car on West Tucker Street abandoned. The vehicle was processed and returned to its owner.
