PECOS, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Improvements are coming to Highway 285 near Pecos.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says a two-mile stretch of the highway, between Interstate 20 and FM 1216 in Pecos will be upgraded.
Plans call for pavement repairs, drainage improvements as well as improvements to the intersections. The work will take place in phases and will allow for one lane in each direction to remain open.
TxDOT officials say work on the outside lanes will take place at night to minimize disruptions to local businesses and drivers while work on the inside lanes will take place during the day.
Detours and closures will be in place as the work is completed.
For those who want to learn more about the project, TxDOT will host a community meeting to discuss the plans.
The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pecos High School, 1201 S. Park St.
