ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Four new Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Ector County, stats released Thursday show.

The total case count in Ector County is now at 134.

Stats also show that 2069 have been tested for COVID-19, with 1836 coming back negative. Additionally, stats show 88 have recovered from the virus and 99 tests are still pending.

Thursday’s update comes after a fifth Medical Center Hospital employee tested positive for the virus.

Officials say the employee is a pharmacy tech and their last day of work was May 19. The employee tested positive after being exposed to a family member who also tested positive, according to a release from MCH.

Meanwhile, statewide, Gov. Greg Abbott announced that driver’s license offices will begin to reopen May 26.

Gov. Abbott says it will be a phased reopening with offices in Northwest and West Texas regions having limited services.

Barring setbacks, phase II of the reopening would begin on May 29.

Gov. Abbott also lifted all air-travel restrictions related to COVID-19 effective immediately.
