El Paso takes #1 spot for safest city for cyclists

EL PASO, Texas (Nexstar) – Grab a bike, your helmet, and other protective gear and make your way to El Paso for a bike stroll.

May is a busy month filled with different national days and one of those is National Bike Month.

YourLocalSecurity, has compiled a list of all the cities across the United States that are doing both the best and worst duties in keeping cyclist safe.

According to their latest annual Safest Cities for Cyclist in America, El Paso came in 1st for the safest city in Texas. And Texas ranked 48th overall in the United States.

The results are based on data from the National Census, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and state reporting with determining factors including: bike commuters, fatal crashes, protected bike lanes, street cycling laws, statewide bike plans and bike infrastructure spending for final rankings.
