BIG SPRING, Texas (Nexstar) – On Tuesday morning Big Spring Police Department officers responsed to the block of E. 13th because of a distrubance call.
When officers arrived they immediately saw a dog attack a male known as John Henry 46-years-old.
According to a press release, officers observed two more indiviuals outside trying to get the dog to stop attacking Henry.
The officers discharged their weapon in the direction of the dog resulting in scaring the dog away.
Henry was immediately transported to Scenic Moutain Medical Center for treatment but died.
The actual cause of death is unkown, however an autopsy is scheduled for the morning of May 12, 2020.
Big Spring Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is on scene and currently investigating the incident.
Animal Control Wardens have captured the dog on scene put in quarantine at the Big Spring Animal Shelter.
During the incident, another male individual was also bitten and has been treated and released from SMMC.
This case is still under investigation.
